Good Morning, Starshine.

Hey, Andrew here. I'm an illustration student and Dawson College in montreal.
Just wanted to share my artwork since it felt lonely all clustered in my computer. I'd like to share my thoughts on certain things from time to time and hopefully get to meet some new people.

Lets get this show on the road, shall we?

Most of the stuff I'll be posting will be of this semester, some for school and others as studies and learning.
I'm always open to critiques, and willing to give my own opinion and thoughts on your own work, so just hit me up or e-mail me if you're ever in any need.

Pet Robot Project - Design inspired by Jonathan Kim's animation The Happiest Monster

Sure, the design is simple, but I just couldn't resist drawing that adorable face. I tried to get a really moody atmosphere and... I think I did alright with colors. Values are a bit everywhere but I tried to get something good.

Sketch of my sister doing homework, was really satisfied with this one but something about the left eye bugs me.

I'd like to further expand on Xin's blog post here about distractions. These past years I've been constantly seeking refuge to my beloved land of video games and unfortunately, television in times of stress and anxiety. Ideally, this break period should be an hour or two a day. However, my imagined self-control often lands short when I need it and my time is ultimately wasted. Just today, I played an hour and a half of TF2. For no real purpose even, as the main purpose for playing TF2 is to have fun with friends, and I wasn't. A fearful look at my recorded time played is around 590 hours of play since 2007. Damn, and that's TF2 alone.

My aspiration is to become an efficient concept artist in the entertainment industry, and I decided this long ago. Naturally, I would go to video games as a resource for inspiration. Without a critical eye, it is easy to get absorbed into the realm of lucid creativity. I've been victim to this several times, but I cannot say I didn't enjoy playing them. I lament the times I could have spent doing studies or work on projects. My elite nerdiness has proven itself useful in many situations but honestly, I'd rather just have work done.

Anyway, here's something else to keep you awake at night:

Also if you're a Dawson student reading this, go to Conrods anytime after 11:30 to buy Christmas Cards, Pillows and Shirts to help out our program's fundraiser.
